Le Bois de Boulogne
April 27, 2025
Happy 40th to our son Max!!! It seems like yesterday and yet not…..
Warmer weather has finally arrived in Paris along with clear blue skies so we just had to spend the day outdoors. We took the métro to the Bois de Boulogne which is 2.5 times the size of Central Park. It is located near a quiet, tree lined neighborhood that turns out has a lot of embassies nearby. Very pleasant and quite different than the high energy “happening” part of Paris where we live.
We saw only a fraction of the park, spending most of the day walking around the gorgeous lakes and discovering that there are NO public restrooms anywhere in the park. For lunch we stopped at Le Chalet des Bosquettes for lunch - sounds fancy, right? Well, it’s an order at the counter and wait fairly long until your sandwich is ready type of place. We shared a delightful tuna sandwich on a baguette which was enough to fuel us for the rest of the journey.
There are rowboats for rent on the larger lake and we couldn’t resist. As my right shoulder is just 9 weeks out from a major repair, Ed was at the helm while I charted our course from the stern. That is to say, I would point my finger and say “là” in the direction he needed to steer. The biggest obstacle in the lake were the other “boaters” most of whom clearly didn’t know how to navigate a small rowboat - it was pretty comedic really, but we managed to avoid any collision -came close though!

Another delightful day for the books! Time for an Apéro.

Beautiful pics :)
