Settling in to Paris
April 18, 2025
We settled in to our little apartment and spent the 16th wandering around Paris, walking 6 miles with plenty of rest stops along the way. We are so close to so many things. The Jardin des Tuileries, the garden associated with the Louvre took up a good portion of the day.
Walked by the Pont Neuf
The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel below: (it’s not the big Arc de Triomphe)
Enjoyed a spring garden
And then strolled to the Place de la Concorde
There is art everywhere
Yesterday was our orientation day for The Good Life Abroad. That’s the company/program taking care of us here in Paris. They provide the apartment, general support and arrange group activities 3 days a week. We are a cohort of 14 with Alex de Villiers as our local guide/coordinator. Most folks are in our age group and seem quite interesting. We spent the evening with a couple from our group who are from North Carolina. Theirs is a HUGE apartment. I actually préfère our little place as it’s cozy and so well situated. Just around the corner we have a patisserie, boulangerie, green grocer, cheese shop, butcher shop etc. and many cafés. It’s noisy, in a good way, and full of life.
Today we walked to the large MonoPrix just a few blocks away and bought some general supplies. This afternoon will be spent at the Georges Pompidou museum with who knows what after that!
à demain!

Sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! Thank you so much for the commentary and observations. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding, great you are enjoying romantic Paris and all it offers!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite post to date. I love the way you described the setting, "It’s noisy, in a good way, and full of life." I feel like I am reading a novel. I can feel this sentence. Can't wait to see you next week!
