Somewhere in the Atlantic April 7, 2025

It turns out the swells yesterday were 18 feet/6 meters with winds of 60 knots!  We were really rocking and rolling.  Speaking of which, last night we attended the ship’s version of the Beatles.  Let’s just say Ed thought they were better than I did.  I took pics on my iPhone which I will have to upload later as I can only really connect one device and have chosen my iPad.  For the pleasure of good connectivity we had to cough up $300 per person.  Yikes!  We are able to connect well (through Starlink) and can even stream Netflix.  We do have a “TV” in our lovely room with a very limited amount of choices.  The film choices are at a cost and the sound is horrible as is the picture quality.

We attended another of Dr. Leeder’s lectures this morning - this one on Rome.  We have been there briefly before on one of our bicycle trips and look forward to returning at some time in the future (assuming we have some money left after the current crash of the stock market). That won’t happen this trip though as when we dock in Rome, we are off to the airport to fly to Paris for a month.  We do have a hard life, don’t we? In anticipation of our time in Paris, Ed has been diligently refreshing his French through Pimsleur - though his German comes popping through now and then.

After lunch today we attended a port wine tasting.  These tastings are a lot of fun and the head sommelier Stephan,  is really delightful and very knowledgeable.  Now all we really feel like doing is napping!

From left to right: Sherry, Ruby Port, Tawny Port and Vintage Port with the pairings below them.  The vintage port was by far the best - most expensive too I’m sure.

I think that’s all I have to say for now!  We turn our clocks ahead one hour again tonight - this one for the last time thank heavens.
