Copenhagen, Denmark

 May 25, 2025

A rainy day but that didn’t keep us down.  First we did a walk along the port and then a canal cruise sitting out in the rain but loving the sites.  We really loved the vibe of this city and would love to return when we are not on a cruise ship (and when it’s not raining though it apparently rains 200 days per year).

One of the local yacht clubs.

Yes, this is the REAL little mermaid.  The original story does not end happily unlike the Disney version.

A church build by the English:

A sudden modern twist with a nod to the Danish Resistance during WWII - their headquarters were just next to the offices of the SS during the war.

One of the 80 bridges over the canals:

“Founder” of Copenhagen Archbishop Absalon 1160 -this has recently been disproved as stone age ruins were recently found and I doubt they were Christian.

Church of Our Savior - external spiral staircase to climb to the top!

New, high priced apartments along the canal.

The new opera house - folks dive off the top!

This lovely ship passed us on the canal

The royal yacht. Our guide repeatedly told us how much the royal family is loved.
