Eidfjord, Norway & Viking Village of Gudvangen

 May 30, 2025

It’s difficult to capture the scale of things but if you see that little white thing towards the bottom, right of center, it’s a bus. And of course there are waterfalls everywhere.

Sitting in our stateroom I glanced outside and saw this rainbow.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen one so low before.

Not many folks in this little village of 900 but they are surrounded by incredible beauty and of course obnoxious cruise ships.

Grass roofs are not uncommon - they last 30 years.

Trolls are a huge part of their culture, traditionally being blamed for any unexpected phenomenon. The ones in this region all have big noses.

The Norwegians have many tunnels - they are so long - this one was 8.4 km and includes two roundabouts.

Everywhere such beauty!  There is a large herd of wild reindeer but we never saw them

Sometimes selfies fail

So someone helps you.

Another amazing waterfall - Ed went up close and got soaked!

On to the Viking Village

Our guide taught us about Viking warfare - brutal… The shield was very important.

This nasty blade had several uses - let your imagination run wild & be creative.  Ouch!

Their gods…..I’ll have to look more up later…

Afterglow  - sunset @ 10h30 or later. Sunrise @ 3h30.
No editing on these pics.  It really looked like that.

Next (and last) port of call, Bergen, Norway.
