Shopping in our neighborhood
April 19, 2025
This morning we did our shopping. We are close to Les Halles where there is a big Monoprix- the big one is kind of like a Target with groceries, clothes and housewares etc..We loaded up on the basics at the Monoprix and then went to the many little shops in our neighborhood (Montorgeuil) which is apparently well known for its cafés & shops : boulangeries (bakeries); patisseries; meat markets; fromageries (cheese shops), and a large green grocer with lovely fresh fruits and veggies. There are wine shops too but plenty of wine is available at the Monoprix and small groceries as well - 7 euros for a decent bottle!
The street itself is mostly all foot traffic but bicycles and delivery trucks are allowed. It’s hard to capture the hustle bustle of the street in a photo but I’ll keep trying! Below is an early morning pic from our window. By late morning it’s packed with people until after midnight. Our street is Rue Marie Stuart and just around the corner is Rue Montorgeuil. We are on the 6th floor (called the 5th here).

I love all those passages. There’s a website that has a whole map of them. Good exploration for a rainy day!
